“Overtaking wouldn’t have been possible either”- Daniel Ricciardo reveals what led to his poor outcome during the Turkish Grand Prix.
The race in Istanbul was a tricky one and indeed gave a chance to the drivers to showcase their skills, and it led to a huge shuffling in the usual positions in the table.
However, Daniel Ricciardo who is seen as a driver with a set of decorated records, he for once failed to get a favourable result for his team as he finished 10th, taking only a single point.
The Australian driver has justified his stand and revealed that his tyres didn’t support him, as much he demanded and despite making a good start, he ran down in the order as there wasn’t a scope of making regular overtakes.
“For a short moment I was one of the fastest drivers on the track, and two laps later my tyres were already worn,” he says to Auto, Motor und Sport.
In a desperate attempt, the 31-year-old driver even changed to slicks. “But in some places, there was still too much water on the track. In one corner it was dry, in the other, it was soaking wet. If you go off the racing line, you are lost. So overtaking wouldn’t have been possible either.”
Hoping for good results in the last three races
After taking only a point from Turkey, Renault’s position in the table is now vulnerable amidst the midtable battle, with an incredible haul by Ferrari at Istanbul, makes them a threat for the French team.
Yet, Ricciardo feels that his team has a great chance in securing a great position by the end of the season. Point to be noted, that next month is going to be the last month where Ricciardo would be serving Renault ahead of his move to McLaren.
