‘LeBron James was dominant from High School to the NBA’: Lakers star looks back at his basketball journey
LeBron James retweets a video of himself, chronicling his freshman year in high school for St. Vincent-St. Mary.
LeBron James rise to NBA stardom is perhaps one of the most inspiring ‘rags to riches’ stories out there. Growing up in the small town of Akron, Ohio, he didn’t have access to the fancy prep schools you see nowadays such as Monteverde or Chino Hills.
James, with the help of his mother Gloria, built Bron’s basketball repertoire from the ground up. Along with the skills LeBron learnt in middle school, he also had an innate feel towards the game of basketball.
Going into his freshman year of high school, he had already generated a substantial amount of buzz around his game.
LeBron James remains appreciative of the journey he embarked on to get to the NBA
A video posted on Twitter by ‘Ball Street Journal’, chronicled LeBron’s freshman year of high school. The semi-mixtape included his highlights from that year and also interviews from his coaches and himself.
LeBron retweeted this video on his social media and captioned it “Appreciative to the journey! The process I love more than anything!”

How good was LeBron as a freshman in high school?
Entering his freshman year of high school, LeBron had already reached a dominant height of 6’5, which is just 3 inches shorter than his current height of 6’8.
From the get-go, James established himself as a pass first player. His high school coach Kevin Dambrot said, “He’s a multifaceted player; he can really pass the ball.” He continued on by saying that James had an “unlimited amount of potential.”
LeBron James, as a freshman, led his entire team in every offensive stat, averaging 21 points, 6 assists, and 8 rebounds per game.
