‘LeBron James’ leadership is a great skill to have’: Lakers’ Montrezl Harrell takes shots at Kawhi Leonard and Clippers
Montrezl Harrell appeared to stress a little too much about LeBron James’ leadership on Media Day. It seemed like a subliminal diss at the Clippers’ leadership.
One of the worst criticisms of the Clippers’ 2019-20 roster was the lack of natural leaders on the roster. For all of Kawhi and PG-13’s star power, they don’t exactly make for great locker room tone-setters. Kawhi, in particular, tries to lead with his actions, and that isn’t something that works as well as verbal encouragement.

Montrezl Harrell shows admiration for LeBron James’ leadership
Acquired by the Lakers as a free agent for the midlevel exception, Harrell has been quick to speak out in favor of his new teammates. Despite being one of the Clippers’ most vocal voices challenging the Lakers over the past season, Harrell understands LeBron’s talents.
Shortly after his signing was made official, Harrell made the following statements about the Lakers’ potential:
“I’m definitely going to be with a team that wanted me and with a group of guys I feel I’m going to gravitate well to and build chemistry fast.”
Between Marc Gasol, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers have some great talent in leadership roles. The question is only whether they can replace Danny Green’s defensive impact – a role that Wesley Matthews will do his best to fit into.
Montrezl Harrell on playing with LeBron James: “It’s not hard to play with one of the greatest players to play this game.”

The Lakers will now be prohibitive favorites to repeat their championship success from last season. They have won the offseason battle for free agent signatures by most accounts, and have the continuity within the roster to start off with imperious chemistry.
