‘I’ve never been a muscular guy’: Mavericks star Luka Doncic responds to being called chunky by NBA fans
Luka Doncic gave an amazingly humble response to Twitter armchair critics who criticized his physique as ‘chunky’.
One of the very few criticisms of Luka Doncic so far has been his physique. Luka was a top 4 MVP candidate last season, and he’s only going to get better with time. However, if he had a more muscular frame, people argue that his scoring would become even easier on drives.
Doncic is already an elite scorer from inside the paint. The 6’7″ swingman has a reputation as a circus shotmaker from deep. But he’s much, really much better as a pick-and-roll player. He averages 69% on his attempts from less than 5 feet from the rim.
Most of his assists come from the PnR sets where he’s either able to facilitate the roll man or find an open man on the 3-point line. His shiftiness, ability to decelerate and excellence at ballhandling makes him virtually unstoppable.
Luka Doncic gives humble answer to critics of his physique
Dallas Morning News reporter Brad Townsend happened to ask him what he thought of people criticizing his body fat levels. Luka Doncic came up with a great reply:
“I mean, people on Twitter say every stuff “But, it’s true I’m not in my best shape. I will get there for sure. But, you know, I’ve never been a muscular guy, so what can I say?”

Doncic’s body positivity as well as commitment to bettering his physique is going to win him a ton of fans. Many already believe that he is destined for a career with multiple MVP trophies.
