"I Met Jay-Z Through LeBron James": Lou Williams Reveals How Lakers Superstar Went Out of His Way to Fix a Meeting With Hip-Hop Superstar

Lou Williams had an experience in high school that most adults would be jealous of. During his high school days, Williams had the chance to meet Jay-Z in person in the backstage of one of his shows. What makes the experience even more absurd is that LeBron James was responsible for arranging the meet-up. All this took place in Atlanta where Jay-Z was scheduled to perform.

Williams, who just retired this year from the NBA, recently appeared on Trae Young’s “From the Point Podcast with Trae Young“. While he was on the show, the three-time NBA Sixth Man winner shared his fascinating story of meeting Jay-Z with Young.

The incredible story of Lou Williams meeting Jay-Z through LeBron James

LeBron James was already a phenom by the time he was a rookie in the NBA. Bron was already hanging out around big names in sports and music, like Jay-Z. Williams at the time was in high school. But due to his success in AAU circuits, he crossed paths with LeBron and his friends.

This relationship with LeBron would allow him the opportunity of a lifetime when he was just a junior in high school. Meeting Jay-Z after a concert is something of a surreal experience and LeBron was gracious enough to ask his friend and business partner Maverick Carter to stay back in Atlanta and take a teenager Williams to the concert.

Lou Williams narrated the entire event on Trae Young’s podcast. While talking to the two co-hosts of the show, Williams said, “That whole setup was cool for me as a high school kid because I met Jay-Z through LeBron [James]. Bron was in his rookie year. They had a game on Tuesday in Atlanta. Jay-Z had a concert, on Thursday in Atlanta. And Bron told Mav [Maverick Carter]…to stay in Atlanta and take me to the show and… got there early. And I spent like two and a half, three hours chillin’ with Jay-Z.”

“…walked out to the stage with him, until he went up. His security came and got me when he was about to get off stage, I met him in the back, shook his hand, and told me good luck with everything. He jumped in a sprinter. He was the first person out of the arena. That was the first time I ever seen it.
Unfortunately for a young Lou Williams, school was waiting for him the next day. Williams, who had already made up his mind to go directly pro, was now fully motivated to get to the league as soon as possible.

LeBron has a friend in Jay-Z

Hooking Lou Williams up with an exclusive JAY-Z experience is nothing much when you understand how deep the two celebrities’ friendship goes. Jay-Z once made an appearance on LeBron James’ show called The Shop. The popular rapper was even seen courtside when LeBron broke the All-Time points record. The relationship between the two has blossomed since they first met when LeBron was just 16.

TV host James Corden, who knows about LeBron’s relationship with Jay-Z, once even dared him to text Jay, during an episode of Carpool Karaoke. This came after James made a bold claim that Jay-Z always returns his texts. That is something to brag about, as the 3.6 billion dollar rapper is very hard to get a hold of.
