‘The Paul George and Indiana thing, it was a conversation’: Lakers’ Anthony Davis confirms Clippers star’s story regarding trade to Pacers
Anthony Davis confirmed Paul George’s story that they had talked about teaming up on the Pacers in 2017 before his trade to OKC.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Davis said the two had had conversations about playing together. He agreed that the deal had fallen through on the front offices’ end:
“The Paul George thing and Indiana was a conversation for sure. It kind of just faded away. I’m not sure what happened on their end. He said that management didn’t want to do it whatever…”

Anthony Davis comments on Kyle Kuzma’s contract extension
Among the other questions Anthony Davis answered yesterday were about Kyle Kuzma’s extension. AD said he was buoyed by the news, saying it helps them refocus on their jobs:
“You don’t have that contract anxiety for the whole year. Now that it’s out the way he can go out there and play, which he was doing anyway…He’s locked in…”

AD definitely did himself a favor by waiting out a couple more years before pushing for a trade. This has allowed him to team up with the greatest player of the era and jumpstart his championship ambitions. The Lakers look set for a repeat given how well they’ve performed over the last 18 months on all fronts.
