‘I probably deserve this’: Steve Kerr jokingly trolls his own Warriors outfit for opening night game against Kevin Durant and Nets
Steve Kerr joked that facing the Brooklyn Nets, powered by his former protege Kevin Durant, was just retribution for him.
The Warriors eventually got blown off the court in their season opener by Brooklyn. The Nets were hot right from the start, netting 40 points in the first quarter itself. They never let go of the lead after the first 4 minutes. The 125-99 score is a true reflection of the amount of dominance they displayed.
The Nets are considered among the biggest contenders for the championship this season. Although the Lakers are deservedly considered runaway favorites, they’re not considered unbeatable like the KD-era Warriors.
The Nets will be looked upon to take on the mantle of the Best in the East. But it will be tough for them to get past a playing field consisting of Boston, Miami and Milwaukee.
Steve Kerr jokes about his Warriors team deserving tough fixture
There are few people funnier than those who’re willing to be self-deprecating. When self-deprecation intersects with puffing up your chest in the same sentence, it’s a cue for laughter almost every time.
“I probably deserve this (playing the Brooklyn Nets). I was coaching a team [like this] for five years.”

The Warriors got bad performances from a number of key role players last night. Andrew Wiggins was miserably bad from the field, Kelly Oubre was surprisingly inefficient and there was little flow to the offense. James Wiseman had a okayish debut, but nothing to write home about.
