Ravindra Jadeja catch today: Watch Jadeja grabs superb catch to dismiss Matthew Wade despite collision with Shubman Gill at the MCG
Ravindra Jadeja catch: Making a comeback, the Indian all-rounder continued to take praiseworthy catches on the outfield.
During the first day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Melbourne, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja held on to a brilliant catch which was made difficult due to a collision with debutant batsman Shubman Gill.
It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the 13th over when Wade lost out of patience too early to play a terrible shot off India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Having given the charge, Wade hit an outside off-stump line delivery across the line to sky the ball between Jadeja and Gill and mid-on and mid-wicket respectively.
Despite a loud call followed by a hand gesture from Jadeja, Gill continued his attempt for completing the catch which resulted in a nasty collision. While there wasn’t any injury reported, the best part was that Jadeja had held on to the catch.
Wade, who had opened the batting with Joe Burns (0), played well for his 30 (39) with the help of three fours but would be severely disappointed with the way in which he gifted his wicket.
Ashwin, who went on to dismiss Australia batsman Steve Smith (0) soon enough, didn’t let the Australian batsmen take advantage after their captain Tim Paine’s decision of winning the toss and batting first.
India spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who had earlier dismissed Burns in the fifth over, came back after lunch to send back Travis Head (38) to break a potentially dangerous 86-run partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Head.

The amazing feat here is not the catch as much as Jadeja’s dainty sidestep to avoid destroying Gill’s fingers as he falls https://t.co/mrIKC42UTk
