S Sreesanth comeback: Kerala pacer gets emotional after dismissing Fabid Ahmed in Kerala vs Puducherry match
S Sreesanth comeback: The veteran Indian fast bowler returned to competitive cricket after an almost eight-year gap.
During an Elite Group E match of the ongoing 12th season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy between Kerala and Puducherry in Mumbai, Kerala fast bowler S. Sreesanth returned to competitive cricket after an almost eight-year gap.
Having tried his hands across multiple fields over the years, Sreesanth finally became eligible to play BCCI-affiliated cricket in September last year.
Opening the bowling with Basil Thampi after Puducherry captain Damodaran Rohit won the toss and chose to bat, Sreesanth bowled with the same pace which he was known for before being handed with a ban.
It was on the second delivery of his second over that Sreesanth managed to make the ball leave Puducherry opening batsman Fabid Ahmed (10) after it pitched on the middle-stump. With Ahmed opening up after getting beaten, it was enough for Sreesanth to his stumps.
Sreesanth, who duly celebrated his maiden wicket upon comeback, was soon seen getting emotional on the field which spoke highly about what the same meant to him.
With bowling figures of 4-0-29-1, the 37-year old player registered decent bowling figures at the Wankhede Stadium. In addition to Sreesanth, Kerala all-rounder Jalaj Saxena picking bowling figures of 4-0-13-3 played a vital role in restricting the opposition to 138/6 in 20 overs.
Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the fifth over, Kerala captain Sanju Samson top-scored with 32 (26) comprising of three fours and two sixes as Kerala sealed the chase in the penultimate over.
