David Warner DRS: The Australian opening batsman wasted a review after an unconvincing decision of questioning his dismissal.

During the fourth day of the fourth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Brisbane, Australia opening batsman David Warner played in his archetype manner to give a brisk start to his team in the second innings.

Having hit a couple of boundaries off Mohammed Siraj’s first two overs of the day, Warner’s quick run-scoring pushed Australia’s lead past the 100-run mark within no time.

In addition to hitting the boundaries, Warner was also superb with respect to his running between the wickets in the first session. However, it was after the first hour that Australia lost both their opening batsmen in quick succession.

While Marcus Harris (38) was caught behind by India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant off Shardul Thakur, Warner was found wanting in front of the stumps by Washington Sundar in the following over.

In what was an arm ball, Warner moved to his back foot to cut the delivery but it wasn’t to be as the lack of turn made the ball hit his back leg right in front of the stumps.

Warner, who was keen to walk back to the pavilion, ended up taking a review after non-striker Marnus Labuschagne’s suggestion. Warner, who signaled for the review after he 15-second mark, clearly appeared to be unconvinced about umpire Paul Wilson’s decision getting overturned.

As was the case, Warner had almost reached the Australian dugout before the decision arrived. Having scored 48 (75) with the help of six fours, Warner’s dismissal resulted in a waste of review for the hosts.

What’s the point of DRS timer if the batsman can take even when he is late in calling it? Warner called it late here but it went to the third umpire. Earlier, Tim Paine also had called late in Sydney Test. #AUSvsIND
