Rohit Sharma wicket today: Watch Tim Paine grabs fantastic catch to dismiss Rohit off Pat Cummins at the Gabba
Rohit Sharma wicket today: The Indian vice-captain was dismissed cheaply in his last innings of the tour of Australia.
During the fifth day of the fourth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Brisbane, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma was out cheaply on a day when his team needed him to survive if not score briskly.
It all happened on the second delivery of the ninth over when Australia speedster Pat Cummins drew first blood as he usually does. Having pitched around the off-stumps, the ball did enough to hit the outside edge of Sharma’s bat.
While the batsman could’ve left the ball leaving him, him edging it worked against him. To complete the catch, Australia captain Tim Paine completed a fantastic diving catch in front of first slip not repeating his mistake from the last Test in Sydney.
Opening the batting with Shubman Gill, Sharma departed after scoring 7 (21) with the help of one four. In the two Tests that he played on this tour, Sharma scored a total of 129 runs at an average of 32.25 comprising of a half-century.
Chasing a 328-run target, Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara have so far ensured that the visitors don’t lose anymore wickets in the morning session. Gill, who has registered his second Test half-century, is doing enough to get the scoreboard ticking at the Gabba.
While a draw for India will mean that the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will remain with them, the hosts need nothing but a victory to win the series. With a possible rain break also on the cards, it will be interesting to see how the remaining of the day and players’ approach pans out.
