“I do not expect anything special from him”- Lance Stroll on Sebastian Vettel competing against him with the same car in 2021 season.
Sebastian Vettel is soon going to head onto the track for Aston Martin, and clearly, there is excitement around it, considering after a half of a decade, we will witness the German race driver competing for another outfit.
Whereas, his partner Lance Stroll is in a state of apathy, as in a recent interview he has mentioned that he holds no expectations from Vettel with Aston Martin.
“Vettel is experienced and knows what a team needs to be successful. Personally, I do not expect anything special from him, ” he told the French publication Auto Hebdo, as per the Soymotor.com.
In spite of the hype around Aston Martin, Stroll has asserted that one shouldn’t overrate the outfit right now, the realistic target for the new team as of now is to take a step ahead and not directly target for the title.
“The fact that we now have more resources as a team and are Aston Martin will not change the DNA of this team. We are not going to become a leading team the first time around. The first step is to collect everything you need and then you have to do something with it,” he explained.
I never took someone’s place
Ever since making his spot in Racing Point, Stroll has been targetted with the pay-driver insults, and last year, Stroll was criticized for occupying the spot Sergio Perez ideally should have taken, if there was an ounce of meritocracy involved.
But the sport was never like that and at every point, financial baking has benefitted every present driver on the paddock, including Perez, and Stroll thinks he can only silence them through one thing.
” I have never felt that I have taken someone’s place. I think there is only one way to respond to criticism and that is with a good performance on the track. The criticism has never negatively affected me and I will always work in the same way,” said Stroll.
