“LeBron James has lied to the American public”: Stephen A Smith explains why Lakers star is a hypocrite for his statement after beating Giannis’s Bucks
Stephen A Smith made some great points about LeBron James on yesterday’s episode of First Take. He correctly accused the Lakers star of lying.
Following a season-high 34 point outing against the Bucks, James went to the post-game presser in high spirits. But when asked about how he felt about beating the man who’d beaten him to last season’s MVP award, James was guarded:
“I think all you guys know me, it’s never been about individual, it’s all about the team’s success. That’s all that matters. I can care less about that (outplaying Giannis). I try to play well and help our team win against any team.”
He wasn’t the only circumspect Lakers star in the interviews. Anthony Davis, who’d pointedly accused media members of robbing him of last season’s DPOY, was coy as well: “It’s team defense. It’s not just the guy on the ball guarding him.”
Stephen A Smith calls LeBron James a liar for statements about Lakers’ win over Bucks
Stephen A went after James on last morning’s episode of First Take for being fake humble:
“I think that LeBron stood in front of the cameras last night and lied to the American public, and anybody else who was listening. But I’m not knocking him for it. I think that, listen, LeBron wouldn’t be as great as he is if all he thought about was the outcome for the team.”
“When LeBron sits up there and goes in for a layup and gets an and-1 and flexes his muscle, is that about the team? When he sits up there and dunks on somebody and screams at the crowd, is that about the team? Nobody’s accusing him of caring about his individual accolades more than the team. No, he’s proven that he’s unselfish on that level.”
LeBron James and the #Lakers look like the best team in the #NBA again. However, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith just accused him of lying. https://t.co/vTtWPS21Sj
