WATCH : Indian spinner bowls with both hands in the same over against Australia
The Australian team are currently playing their first warm up match against the Board President’s XI. The President’s XI consists of several young talented players, as they look to shine against their more illustrious opponents.
While Australia piled up a huge score, it was Akshay Karnewar who stole the show.
The 24-year old spinner bowled with both hands in the same over, as the watching crowd were privy to a rare cricketing event.
His unusual action eventually led to a wicket, as he confounded the Australian batsmen with his variations.
Karnewar is a promising player who already has a lot of fans. In 17 first-class games and 13 T20s, he has taken 34 and 10 wickets respectively.
Ambidexterity is extremely rare in the game of cricket. While it was common for Sachin Tendulkar to bat left-handed in the nets, he never showcased that on the field.
With the way the game is going, we can be sure that ambidexterity is a type of variation that may develop in the future. Former Aussie coach, John Buchanan, has also mentioned how this was going to be common in the future.
I guess, we have just glimpsed the future of cricket!
