“Red Bull will appear much stronger”- Toto Wolff expecting title challenge in 2021, as an experienced driver joins their rank.
Red Bull this time chose to rely on experience as they have signed Sergio Perez to compete for them along with Max Verstappen in 2021 to close the gap against Mercedes.
Toto Wolff believes that Sergio Perez’s incoming will tighten the things in competition, and going ahead into the new season, he believes that Mercedes will be facing a title challenge from their rivals Red Bull.
“I think Red Bull has become a lot stronger with the arrival of Perez. Red Bull will appear much stronger in the battle for the constructors’ championship,” he said as per the RacingNews365.
While Perez definitely brings his vital experience with a Mercedes engine to Red Bull, he has also proved to be a driver who extracts maximum out of his resources.
Therefore, Wolff is also interested in witnessing Verstappen and Perez’s exciting contest. The Dutch driver has now been regarded as one of the best drivers in the current grid formation.
“I see Sergio as a strong driver, and that is why I am also curious about the battle between him and Max Verstappen. I am curious about how he will fare against Max.”
Cautious of Honda
With the Japanese manufacturing company set to leave Formula 1, Wolff has constantly been firm of the maximum support Honda is going to give to Red Bull in their final season.
“Honda is entering its senior year as an official engine supplier in Formula 1, and I think they will do everything they can to compete for the title. So it will be an exciting season,” he said.
While there is also talks about Honda, Red Bull is pushing to gain the engine freeze declaration from FIA from 2022 onwards.
