“Kevin Durant is a cheat code”: Candace Parker puts Nets superstar on a pedestal, says he should be taking their final shots

After the Nets beat the Clippers in their first faceoff of the season, WNBA legend Candace Parker praised Kevin Durant profusely on TNT’s post-game show.

Kevin Durant is undoubtedly one of the greatest scorers of all time. Practically 7 feet tall in shoes, KD has the ability to shoot over every single basketball player on the planet. Despite missing all of 2019-20 while recuperating an Achilles tear, KD has been on a tear to start this season.

He’s currently averaging over 30 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists per game, which are MVP-level stats. The Slim Reaper is so good these days that you’d never think he’d missed an year with a career-altering injury. Although his springiness has noticeably declined, it has not hampered him on either end of the floor.

Candace Parker and Dwyane Wade debate whether Kevin Durant should have the ball in his hands

Over the course of this season, almost every game the Nets have won has been a close-run affair. They’ve lost a couple of them badly – the 2 games against the Wizards come to mind immediately – but having 3 of the clutchest players in the NBA tends to bump up your chances of winning close-run affairs significantly.

Candace Parker asserted that KD should have the ball in his hands to finish things off:

“You have Kevin Durant on your team who’s taking 13 shots. Now I love Kyrie, I think he’s unbelievable. I love the role that James Harden is playing this year, because people doubted whether he’d be able to come in and facilitate. He’s led the league in scoring the last 3 times.”

“But again, Kevin Durant is the cheat code. There’s nobody that can get to their spots like he does. In terms of last second, like who’s taking the shot, for me its KD.”

Dwyane Wade agreed on that point, while also chiming in with how James Harden should have the ball in his hands. According to the Flash, Harden is the best facilitator and controller of the offensive tempo on the team.

Both analysts are completely correct, but there is no telling whether the Nets will stick to just one of their star trio finishing games off or whether they’ll take turns doing it.
