Aiden Markram catch vs Pakistan: The South African opening batsman made his presence felt on the field in the first session.

During the first day of the second Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of Pakistan in Rawalpindi, South Africa opening batsman Aiden Markram grabbed a stunner at short-leg to dismiss his counterpart in Abid Ali.

It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the 15th over when Abid Ali’s attempt of playing an Anrich Nortje delivery on the leg-side led to his dismissal.

A delivery which was bowled into the batsman, Abid Ali inside-edged it on to his body before the lobbed off in the air. Markram, who had little time to react to what had happened, was alert enough to grab the ball with his right hand.

Opening the batting with Imran Butt (15), Abid Ali (6) was the third Pakistani batsman to get out after captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat. The hosts losing three wickets within less than four overs put them on the back-foot at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Contrary to the murmurs of Pakistan playing with three specialist fast bowler today, the home team has fielded an unchanged XI which means that left-arm spinner Nauman Ali gets to play his second match. South Africa, on the other hand, have included Wiaan Mulder in place of Lungi Ngidi.
