“They’re all on the same level” – George Russell reveals three drivers from the current grid he wants to beat
“They’re all on the same level” – Williams and Mercedes star George Russell has revealed the three drivers he wants to defeat, one each from the three most fancied teams on the grid.
George Russell has big ambitions in Formula 1 and is not afraid to hide them. Speaking to Sky Sports at the launch of the Williams’ F143B, Russell revealed the three best drivers on the grid, and his desire to ‘overtake’ them. For those unaware, the augmented reality launch of the car was hacked, hours prior to the launch.
“Every driver wants to put themselves against the best. I believe in myself and Lewis is the benchmark at the moment but equally, you’ve got a lot of fantastic drivers out there who might not have the same CV as Lewis but, Max, Charles, Lewis, they’re all on the same level. Pitting yourselves against any one of those three would be great for any driver.”

Will George Russell drive for Mercedes in 2022?
This is a million-dollar question, quite literally, with the Mercedes seat arguably the highest paying seat on the grid currently. No one knows it better than Lewis Hamilton, who signed the contract extension after a lengthy standoff. But with both him and Valtteri Bottas on one-year contracts, Russell smells an opportunity but remains coy about it.
“Mercedes and Toto have always had my back, they’ve believed in me from day one. When they believe the time’s right, the time will be right. I’m not hassling them, I’m just going out there and doing my job on the track and what comes in the future will come.
