“Michael Jordan wanted to play tonight”: Charlotte Hornets owner held on to an out-of-bounds ball for a while, prompting hilarious reactions from NBA fans

A pretty innocuous moment from the Hornets’ win over Detroit last night was turned into a procession trolling Michael Jordan.

Terry Rozier continues to display his clutch gene, making an incredible run in the 4th quarter to lift the Hornets. Charlotte went on to win the game 105-102 on the back of 2 clutch buckets from Rozier. Rozier was 2 of 9 from the field before going 4 of 5 in the final 3:11.

Michael Jordan, sitting courtside for the first time this season, looked visibly proud of his 2019 free agent signing. He embraced Scary Terry after the game, expressing his admiration for the 26-year-old’s late-game execution.

There is no doubt that Jordan is a lot more satisfied with his Hornets this year than in previous seasons. Charlotte looks slated to make the play-in tournament at the very least, if they don’t finish 7th or 8th in the Conference.

Michael Jordan holds on to an out-of-bounds ball till the last possible moment

There was a mundane moment in the 3rd quarter that wouldn’t have made any waves if it wasn’t for Michael Jordan. His Airness was seated courtside when Devonte Graham deflected a Pistons pass out of bounds.

The ball fell straight into MJ’s hands, and he caught it without fuss. As the Pistons reset their offensive positioning, the referees allowed the GOAT to hold onto the ball for a while.

Jordan obviously threw it to the refs when the signal came. But the slight delay was enough for the Internet to take notice of how long MJ held onto the ball.

Hornets coach James Borrego called Rozier fearless, and with good reason:

“He’s very comfortable in those moments. It’s almost like he is more locked in the tighter the game is. That’s rare at any level, much less at this level.”
