The fact that Kai Havertz has been a colossal disappointment for Chelsea this season is well documented. Ever since making a behemoth 75 million pound switch to the club, the player has gone onto score just once and assist on four occasions in the Premier League.

While he did impress for the club against Everton, Havertz was once again missing in the club’s showdown against Leeds United. And the midfielder was quick to make an admission of his diabolic form as he opened up about his struggles at the club this season.

Havertz Opens Up On Lacklustre Form

“The coronavirus is now over and I feel good. I had a little injury in the past few weeks but it’s now time to play good,” Havertz told Chelsea’s website ahead of the side’s round of 16 Champions League tie.

“It has not been easy for me but there are no excuses. I just have to keep on working and hopefully there will be a big turnaround soon.”

Tuchel Talks About Chelsea’s Attacking Woes

The Chelsea manager also opened up about his side’s attacking debacle ever since he’s taken over the reigns of the club.

“If you arrive at elite level football at the highest level then there is no time to perform. The time simply doesn’t exist. You are simply in a competition with other players in your team on a friendly and respectful basis but there is no time to get four or five matches in a row to score regularly,” Tuchel said.

“That simply does not exist and this is not a secret. This is a given. We try to put them in a good mindset. We are pushing them and they are working hard against the ball with the whole team so this is also a point. We did some changes because we needed to adapt. The results are not crazily bad so that we should ask ourselves that we are doing everything wrong also.

“We have created enough touches in the box, we create enough chances and half chances to win games. We had by far enough chances, touches in the box and deliveries against Leeds to win this game comfortably with two goals. This is no problem but we need to be more precise and focus better on our decision making, the technique, how to finish and these are the points that we work on. Our strikers are very aware of that and they have the highest demands of themselves.”
