Sam Billings Injury Update: Will Billings bat in the 2nd innings of India vs England Pune ODI?
Sam Billings Injury Update: The English batsman injured his shoulder while trying to save a boundary in the first ODI today.
During the first ODI of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Pune, England batsman Sam Billings injured his shoulder while trying to save a boundary.
It all happened on the last delivery of the 33rd over when India opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan pulled a Mark Wood delivery with complete control. Billings, who was fielding at deep square leg, ran hard towards his right but failed to stop the boundary as his foot touched the rope when the ball was in his hand.

In the process, the 29-year old player fell uncomfortably which resulted in his body weight falling on his shoulder. Billings, who was struggling with pain, immediately received medical attention and was subsequently taken off the ground.
Sam Billings Injury Update
Uncapped batsman Liam Livingstone was called on to the field as a replacement for Billings. With Billings not fielding for the remaining part of the Indian innings, there were concerns around his participation in the match especially with the bat in hand.
It was during the Indian innings itself that the English cricket team issued an injury update on Billings hoping for him to bat in the second innings.
“Bilbo [Sam Billings] has sprained his collar bone joint but this is not related to his previous shoulder injury. He’s receiving treatment and we are hopeful he will be able to bat later,” read England Cricket’s tweet.
Really hope Sam Billings is ok there. Dislocated his shoulder fielding ahead of 2019 World Cup.
Bit eerie – Ollie Pope suffered serious shoulder injuries in 2019 and again in 2020 too.

Having scored 315 runs in six innings at an average and strike rate of 78.75 and 95.74 respectively, it is worth mentioning that Billings is England’s highest run-scorer in ODIs in the last one year.
