“If Draymond Green is your pick for greatest defender ever, you don’t know basketball”: Chris Webber reacts to the Warriors’ DPOY puffing himself up
Chris Webber reacts passionately to Draymond Green after the latter claimed that he is the best defender to ever play the game.
Draymond Green has always been a divisive figure in the NBA community. The player isn’t the traditional kind of player. He is a big man that is an elite defender and a great playmaker, but a poor scorer.
Green undoubtedly deserves to be respected. However, his comments at times can be incredibly controversial, and garner a lot of backlash. And it seems the 3-time champion has managed to make this type of comment yet again, dividing the NBA community yet again.
Former NBA player Chris Webber was on with the Inside Crew recently. And when the topic at hand was brought up, the analyst had a very interesting opinion to share with the world.
Chris Webber responded strongly to Draymond Green for his comments
When Draymond Green said that he believes he is the best defender to ever play, it caught Chris Webber’s attention. And after taking his time to analyze what was said, here is what the former player had to say.
“There is no way to say ever. That’s just crazy. And whoever agrees with him, you don’t know basketball. And Draymond should say what he says.”
He elaborated on what he meant.

“Two things can be right… He is the man defensively.”
He went on to say that no one should say ‘ever’ in this context, as it is just ‘crazy’ to do so. He also further went on to take the names of Dennis Rodman, Kevin Garnett and Bill Russell as players who he thought were better defenders.
Overall, though, Chris Webber was very respectful to Draymond Green. It really is refreshing to see two people in the NBA community to have a disagreement and not go ballistic, instead of those that have made a career out of doing just that.
