“I apologise to all mothers “: Ronaldo Issues Apology For Bizarre Haircut During 2002 FIFA World Cup
2002 World Cup Winner, Ronaldo issues apologies to all the mother for his haircut trend. The Brazilian has gone onto reveal the reason behind the trim
Across the years, Brazil’s striker Ronaldo Nazario has nailed down his spot in the echelons of one of the best all time goal scorers. The player’s innate ability to net saw him endure an illustrious career, one which included a notable triumph in the 2002 edition of the FIFA World Cup.
However, apart from his extradonaire goal scoring exploits, the player is also revered for his bemusing haircut. The striker had donned a trim which has over the years become an iconic albeit hilarious piece of football folklore.
Ronaldo Remorseful For Horrible Haircut
Ronaldo had decided to cut of all his hair apart from a tiny patch infront of his forehead. The Brazilian has now gone onto reveal the reasoning behind opting for the bizarre style and also apologised for the design he decided to go with.
Ronaldo has reflected upon the haircut as “horrible” before explaining: “I apologise to all mothers who saw their kids make the same haircut.”
He also explained the story behind the haircut as he went onto add, “I saw my teammates and asked, ‘Do you like it?’ They said, ‘No, it’s horrible! Cut this off!’ But the journalists saw my haircut and forgot about the injury.”
Ronaldo had decided to indulge in the haircut before his side’s semi-final against Turkey in the Japan-Korea edition of the showpiece world cup. Ronaldo had gone onto win the Golden Boot at the tournament after his two match winning goals against Germany in the marquee final took his tally to eight.
Ronaldo had scored twice in the second half of the final to ensure his country lifted the coveted trophy with a 2-0 win.
Ronaldo endured a stellar domestic career as well. Playing for Real Madrid, he netted 104 goals across 177 appearances for the club between 2002 and 2007, while he hit 47 goals in 49 outings for Barcelona in the 1996-97 campaign in a professional career in which he scored over 400 goals.
