Porto Vs Chelsea: Tammy Abraham’s Exclusion Irks Chelsea’s Players
There’s said to be growing unrest with Tuchel’s decision to leave the striker out
Ever since Thomas Tuchel has been in charge of Chelsea, the German has hardly come under any kind of scrutiny. Its down to his sensational start with the club with Tuchel completely overhauling the side in only two months at the club.
However, for the first time since his appointment, a couple of fingers have started being raised at Tuchel. The naysayers have woken up after Tuchel suffered his first defeat as Chelsea manager.
Whilst it came after 15 outings, the underwhelming manner of the 5-2 drubbing made for cause of concern. Adding to Tuchel’s throbbing headache were the incidents of infighting which sprung up ensuing the defeat.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Rudiger’s spat paired with Kepa and Rudiger’s tiff has left Chelsea in chaotic turmoil ahead of their impending Champions League showdown. And unfortunately for the club, things aren’t getting any better either with news of discontent against Tuchel springing up.
Chelsea Players In Angst Over Tammy’s Handling
Members of Chelsea’s squad are said to be in dismay over the German’s handling of striker Tammy Abraham. A bevy of players are said to be left flummoxed at Tammy being persistently left out of the club’s squad with the striker failing to get a look in against West Brom as well.
With Chelsea being listless in attack and Tammy manging to do a more than decent job when called upon, Tuchel’s tactics have been put to the sword. The coach was quizzed about his decision to entirely exclude Tammy against West Brom, a development Tuchel was quick to downplay.
“He was not in the squad. I have to nominate 18 players. There are tough choices to make,” Tuchel said following the loss to West Brom.
“We take the choices of what the game demands, of what we predict, of the substitutions that we have. In the end, we have to select 18 players for more or less 20 positions.
“So we have to leave three players out and Tammy was one of the three players. It’s nothing personal or nothing big. He has the same chance to play every three days like everybody else.”
