“We need to be in finals, and to win them”: Bruno Fernandes Contradicts Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Stance On Trophies
The midfielder demanded more from his side ahead of the final run in
Although they find themselves in second place in the Premier League, Manchester United’s showings are hardly befitting of the spot.
The side’s nervy and jittery 2-1 win against Brighton at the weekend was a testament to that narrative. Whilst the club did manage to get past the finishing line, the win was hardly a conniving one with the side being made to huff and puff on the day.
However, despite his side’s lack of trophies with him yet to lift one since taking over as the club’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hardly been worried about the drought. The Norwegian has often talked about the barren run, saying how trophies aren’t a measure of a club’s success.
Bruno Yearning For Trophies
However, his midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has completely different views. Speaking ahead of his team’s Europa League quarter-final with Granada on Thursday, Bruno admitted his side needed to start challenging for trophies at the earliest plausible.
Bruno who recorded an assist against Brighton also demanded more from his counterparts.
“We need to win more matches. We can’t drop as many points as we do at home, but we’ve been in second, and at the start of the season there weren’t many people who were saying United would be second.
“After a few games and a bad start, nobody was saying United could reach the top of the table, but we ignored what people were saying on the outside.
“We knew what we had said on the inside, we had confidence that things would improve, and they did. We still have to be the best United we can, but we have improved.
“United is made for trophies and the whole mood is around that. We reached the semis and lost to City, but that’s not enough. That wasn’t our time – we need to be in finals, and to win them.”
