France met Croatia in the final of the World Cup.

Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe inspired France to lift their second World Cup title. France delivered an emphatic performance in a 4-2 victory against Croatia. Mario Mandzukic opened the goal-scoring, but not for Croatia, as the forward timed an unfortunate header to deflect the ball into his own net.

However, Perisic equalised 10 minutes later with a decent strike from Ivan Perisic, before a VAR decision gave France a penalty for hand-ball. Griezmann coolly converted the penalty, as the French side led 2-1 at half time.

Croatia were put on back foot in the second half as France led attacks after attacks, and were soon rewarded by two quick goals. Paul Pogba hit a great long range pass to Mbappe, before the ball came back to him just outside the box. Subasic stood no chance against Pogba’s bullet strike.

Mbappe soon made it four for France, before a howler from Hugo Lloris led to Mandzukic pulling one back for France. However, the Croatian side couldn’t breach the French defence as they missed out on the World Cup trophy after playing in their first tournament final.
