“Did Larry Bird whine like Luka Doncic?”: Skip Bayless comprehensively breaks down why the Mavs star deserved his ejection for punching Collin Sexton
Skip Bayless unloaded on Luka Doncic for complaining too much and then getting ejected for boneheaded actions on the court.
Early in the third quarter, Doncic and Sexton were battling for a rebound under the basket. Sexton charged into Doncic to try and dislodge him from his spot, and Doncic responded with a backhanded swing.
The referees reviewed the incident, found that Luka had connected with Sextons’s groin area. This was enough evidence in their eyes to award Doncic with a Flagrant 2 and an ejection. Luka denies that he hit Sexton at that area on purpose.
“I knew I hit him, but I didn’t know where until I saw the replay. It wasn’t nothing on purpose. That stuff happens a lot in the game. It was just two guys fighting for a rebound, I guess.”
Sexton concurred, saying that there were ‘no hard feelings’ with Luka after the game. “It’s just a basketball play. At the end of the day, we’re both competitors. It’s just one of those things.”

Skip Bayless shoots down comparisons between Luka Doncic and Larry Bird
Luka Doncic has often been compared to Celtics legend Larry Bird in terms of his playing style. While the two have their similarities, Bird was generally a more effective shooter and rebounder at his peak.
It is unclear, however, how good Luka will be at his peak. He absolutely looks the part of a young all-time great destined for legendary status. But Skip Bayless is a detractor and a contrarian about tons of superstars irrespective of their popularity.
Bayless declared that the Slovenian MVP candidate’s actions were with intent to hit his opponent’s private parts: “Absolutely Luka did this on purpose. It was a shot aimed at the groin, it was a message sent.” He also shared this clip with this caption: “Did Larry Bird whine like this?”
