Ashes 2021-22: Will Barmy Army and English fans be allowed to travel to Australia for Ashes 2021-22?
Barmy Army and English fans: A large contingent of English fans would be eager to travel down under for Ashes 2021-22.
Today is that time of the international cricketing calendar when numerous English fans would commence plans of visiting Australia with the Barmy Army to support England in an away Ashes series.
It was late last night that the fixtures of Ashes 2021-22 had been made public. Although delayed to December 8, this year’s Ashes is set to begin in Brisbane and will culminate in Perth in January.

With the urn currently with Tim Paine’s Australia, a five-match Test series later this year would be of significant importance for the English fans for the last time they’d won an away Ashes series was in 2010.
Will Barmy Army and English fans be allowed to travel to Australia for Ashes 2021-22?
As was the case during India’s tour of Australia earlier this year, spectators are highly likely to be allowed inside the stadiums. Having said that, restrictions around the same (if any) would be communicated in due course of time.
As far as fans traveling from England to Australia are concerned, a decision on the same will be taken depending on the status of COVID-19 vaccinations in both the countries.
Speaking on the matter, Cricket Australia’s interim Chief Executive Officer Nick Hockley acknowledged that England cricket supporters club Barmy Army would “love” to visit Australia but also hinted that travel-related restrictions are likely to continue till the end of this year. At this moment, only travel for essential reasons is allowed both in and out of Australia.

“We would absolutely love for the English fans to come. We speak to the Barmy Army a lot and they would absolutely love to be here to support, but I think everyone understands the current situation.
“It’s pleasing to see the vaccine roll-out in Australia, and it’s also encouraging to see the UK opening up so we just have to watch and hope. But our current thinking is there are likely to be international travel restrictions in place up until the end of the year,” Hockley said in a statement.
