“Shaq just had to show off his Serbian to Nikola Jokic”: Shaquille O’Neal stutters while trying to speak Serbian to the Nuggets MVP after win vs Blazers
Nikola Jokic had a dominant performance as the Nuggets blew the Blazers out at the Ball Arena. Shaq, meanwhile, is still trying to learn Serbian.
Damian Lillard kept the Blazers within touching distance of what should have been a blowout loss within the first half. The Blazers’ MVP candidate finished the first half with 32 of their 61 first half points.
Dame could only muster 10 points in the second half, and it led to an invariable demise of the Blazers’ offense. They only scored 43 points through the 20 minutes they played before emptying their benches.
Nikola Jokic, meanwhile, relied on a supporting cast that turned it up on both ends when push came to shove. The Nuggets won all 4 quarters of the game separately while playing some great D in their first and 3rd quarters.
Shaq stutters while speaking Serbian with Nikola Jokic
Jokic was obviously in good spirits during the post-game courtside interview conducted by national sports network TNT. His 38 points and 5 assists while helping Jusuf Nurkic foul out proved key to the Nuggets’ W on the night.
Shaq was all praises for the 26-year-old, who’s all but destined to be awarded the MVP trophy in a couple of days. Unfortunately for us, some of these words of positivity came in Serbian. And broken Serbian at that.

Nikola Jokic went on to acknowledge the Lakers legend’s improvements at speaking his mother tongue. After all, this is hardly the first time that Shaq has made a fool of himself trying to speak Serbian.
We would hope that Shaq eventually speaks enough Serbian to be able to trash talk Jokic on Inside the NBA after the latter’s retirement. That would certainly make for another Emmy-winning moment for Inside the NBA.
