Shaquille O’Neal lets his excitement about Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks show after he misunderstands Ernie Johnson’s question

Trae Young and his Hawks have been far better than what was advertised during this postseason. Coming into the tournament as the 5^th seed, many thought they’d just bow down and lose to a resurgent Knicks side. However, after a very entertaining 4 games in this series, the Hawks have a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.

Young has been downright inspirational during this series, just like the man he modeled his game after. The star has put up some big performances and acted as an elite floor general, all while incurring the wrath of the Knicks fans. And dare we say it, his little beef with the fans only made this fun series that much more entertaining. Given all of these positives, it makes sense why many in the NBA community are rooting for the Hawks. But perhaps Shaquille O’Neal is a bit too excited about them, as he made a hilarious mistake on live television.

Shaq forgets Ernie’s question to guarantee the Atlanta Hawks will move on to the next round

On the latest edition of TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’, Ernie asked Shaq if the Hawks would conclude this series in Game 5 or would they come back to Atlanta for Game 6. Now, when they hear this, most people would think about maybe saying a Game 5 victory or a return for Game 6. But see, the Diesel is just built different.

With Atlanta just a game away from progressing to the next round, the Lakers legend put his guarantee on perhaps the least risky thing in the NBA right now.

“The Atlanta Hawks are going to win this series, I guarantee it!! I don’t care about no game six!!”

While shouting these words, Shaq ventured all the way over to Chuck’s side of the table and pressed his guarantee button. Right after however, it was explained to him that, that wasn’t even the question. And let’s just say, Shaq’s confused face is absolutely hilarious. O’Neal would later go on to say that Trae Young would lead this team to a game-5 win.

Will he indeed be right? Or do the Knickerbockers have something up their sleeve? Only time will tell.
