“Damian Lillard it’s time for you to leave the Blazers”: Kendrick Perkins claims the All-NBA guard should join forces with LeBron James on the Lakers
Kendrick Perkins says that Damian Lillard should leave the Portland TrailBlazers after their loss to the Nuggets and join the Lakers.
Damian Lillard and the Portland TrailBlazers have been in the middle of the pack in terms of Western Conference Playoff teams for over 8 years now. With the highest seed they’ve ever snagged being the 3rd seed in the 2017-18 season during this Dame era for the Blazers, it’s understandable that they have only ever once made it past the 2nd round.
With yet another postseason having ended before reaching the second round, the Blazers look primed and ready switch things up. Neil Olshey has already pulled the plug on 9-year head coach Terry Stotts and is currently employing the help of Damian Lillard in search for a new bench boss.
However, as the Blazers continually prove year in and year out that they are not able to surround Dame with a championship caliber team, fans and media members alike are vying for the All-NBA guard to leave Portland for a bigger market.
Kendrick Perkins says Damian Lillard should join the Lakers or the Celtics.
Perkins isn’t the first NBA analyst to suggest that Damian Lillard take his talents elsewhere. Stephen A. Smith has been lobbying for a Knicks-Lillard union for years now as he claims a player of Dame’s caliber needs to be in a bigger market. The former Celtic seems to be of a similar mindset as he claims Lillard should join either the Lakers or the Celtics.
“It’s time brother! You have done enough for that organization bro! It’s time for you to take your talents elsewhere. The Lakers or the Celtics would be a great fit for you.”

An All-NBA type player leaving a small market team for a bigger market is not a new concept. It has worked out quite well for these players in the past, such as when Ray Allen left Milwaukee for Boston or more recently, with Anthony Davis leaving New Orleans for sunny Los Angeles.
Reports have been flooding about several contending and non-contending teams being on the lookout for a possible Damian Lillard trade by heavily monitoring the situation. In reality, Dame’s undying loyalty to the franchise that drafted him 6th overall may be the reason as to why he will never look to be traded and will only have a rotating cast of players surrounding him till the end of his career.
