“He seems to have become fairer”– Jacques Villeneuve is impressed by Max Verstappen’s transformation and looks more complete.
Max Verstappen saw an immense rise in his career with Red Bull and now is vying for the drivers’ championship this season. A couple of years ago, he was not even considered the main contender to Lewis Hamilton.
Moreover, Verstappen was considered reckless and rash during his initial years, but Jacques Villeneuve thinks he has immensely transformed and is now a fairer driver.
“He seems to have become fairer,” Villeneuve explained to RacingNews365.com. “In his first season, there was a lot of weaving, you know, in the straights and so on. And he stopped doing that.
“So it seems, he seems to have gotten a much better balance now on what’s fair and not fair as a fighter and how to go and when, when to push, when not to push. He seems to be a lot more complete.”
No weakness in Max Verstappen
When asked if Verstappen has any limitations, the former world champion replied that he sees none, even overseeing his error in Bahrain.
“This year? None, really. Even when he finished second in Bahrain, because he went wide, he took it in his stride. It’s like, ‘Ok, well, you won’, the season is long, so very mature right now.
“He’s got the potential, he is always at the front, he is always up there,” he added. Villeneuve also believes that Verstappen is performing at a higher level.
“At the moment, I would say Max, because Lewis has had too many years of winning easily,” he revealed. Verstappen and Hamilton are set to battle in France next week; the difference between them in the table remains unchanged.
Both of them failed to get a single point from the last weekend in Bahrain, a rare occurrence indeed.
