“It will be a loss for F1″– Red Bull claims Honda’s departure to be a loss for Formula 1, as the Japanese manufacturers seek an exit in 2022.

Red Bull is already lamenting the loss of their power unit supplier– Honda, who is due to leave F1 in 2022. The Japanese manufacturers have stepped up in their last season in F1, and have given Red Bull this year an efficacious engine.

Helping the Milton-Keynes-based team a good contention for the world championship this year. Reacting to Honda’s scheduled departure, Red Bull claims it to be a loss for F1.

“It will be tremendously sad to see them leave at the end of the year. They have been a great partner for us to work with, they have been supportive as they have set up our Red Bull Powertrains,” said Red Bull’s Christian Horner.

“We have obviously utilised their technology moving forwards but it has been a great relationship and we will be sad to see them leave F1. I think it will be a loss for F1 at the end of the year.”

Honda leaving its work behind

After the announcement of Honda’s exit from F1, Red bull pushed hard for the engine freeze, which allows them to use their current power unit till 2025.

No team except for Renault (now Alpine) showed objection to the move, and FIA accepted the proposal. This leaves Red Bull to build its own power unit factory, where they can constantly develop this engine.

Moreover, they would be required to work on the engine for the new regulation which will get active in 2025, and it is yet to know, with whom Red Bull will partner or would it go solo.

Nevertheless, Honda has done a decent job with Red Bull in the past three years, and have pledged to leave them with all they could offer.
