Shafali Verma five fours video: Verma smashes five consecutive boundaries off Katherine Brunt in Hove T20I
Shafali Verma five fours: The Indian opening batter was unstoppable against the English bowlers in the powerplay in Hove.
During the second T20I of the ongoing India Women’s tour of England in Hove, India opening batter Shafali Verma went all guns blazing in the powerplay scoring as many as five consecutive boundaries against veteran England pacer Katherine Brunt.
Opening the batting with Smriti Mandhana, Verma got off to her usual blazing start to comfortably outscore her senior opening partner in the powerplay.
Having hit her first boundary off Brunt in the second over, the right-hand batter then hit a four and a six against Sophie Ecclestone in the third over. With Brunt bowling her second over in a row, Verma assaulted her after receiving the strike on the second delivery.
Fearless that she mostly is, Verma made optimum use of the fielding restrictions to hit shots on merit. Finding gaps at the County Ground being the key, Verma appeared to be enjoying the ball hitting the middle of her bat on every single occasion.
It was on the penultimate delivery of the over that England wicket-keeper Amy Jones decided to keep up to Verma to minimize her footwork. Having said that, the move didn’t reap any fruits for Brunt and Jones as Verma hit the last two deliveries over the in-field on the leg-side.
