DJ Bravo and Fabian Allen catch: West Indian pair join hands to grab excellent rebound catch to dismiss Aaron Finch in 3rd T20I
DJ Bravo and Fabian Allen catch: The two West Indian all-rounders put on display an acrobatic piece of fielding in Gros Islet.
During the third T20I of the ongoing Australia’s tour of West Indies in St Lucia, West Indies all-rounders Dwayne Bravo and Fabian Allen teamed up to put on display an acrobatic piece of fielding to dismiss Australia captain Aaron Finch.
It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the 12th over when Finch tried to break the shackles but ended up skying the ball between long-on and deep mid-wicket. Against an outside the off-stump Hayden Walsh delivery which bounced more than expected, Finch played a slog sweep in search of a boundary.
Bravo, who was running towards his right from long-on, appeared to be the right man to attempt for the catch. Having said that, Allen ran towards his left from deep mid-wicket in anticipation of the same.
While Bravo attempted the catch, he ended up dropping it but was alert enough to guide it to Allen on the rebound. Allen, who had his eyes firmly on the ball, didn’t let the opportunity of grabbing a rebound go waste as Finch had to walk back to the pavilion after a lacklustre 30 (31) comprising of two boundaries.
In what is Australia’s third consecutive mediocre batting performance on this tour, all they could manage was 141/6 in 20 overs after Finch won the toss and chose to bat. Barring Finch, Moises Henriques (33), Ashton Turner (24) and Matthew Wade (23) got off to individual starts but none of them could convert it into an impact-generating innings.
Walsh, who continued to impress at the highest level, was the pick of the West Indian bowlers with bowling figures of 4-0-18-2. Apart from Walsh, Obed McCoy, Bravo and Allen picked a wicket apiece.

How Twitterati reacted:
Ha! Bravo and Allen both went for a skied ball by Finch. Ball pops up out of Bravo’s hands but Allen cleans it up. Aus lose Carey and Finch in quick succession and are 4-80 in the 12th. #WIvAUS

Considering the kind of extraordinary rebound/relay catches we see on a weekly basis these days, like that one with Bravo and Allen, it’s about time we began including “assists” in cricket statistics #WIvAUS
