“Everybody is going to the limits”– Nico Rosberg verdicts who should be blamed for Silverstone crash
“Everybody is going to the limits”– Nico Rosberg gives a verdict on who was responsible for the Silverstone crash of Max Verstappen.
Nico Rosberg, the former employee of Mercedes, has been involved in multiple incidents with Lewis Hamilton during his time as his teammate. The most prominent one was the Spanish Grand Prix 2016 crash, which retired both Mercedes.
While Rosberg could have reminisced his past days by watching Hamilton colliding into Verstappen, he preferred to project a bias, not against the Briton and claimed it a mere racing incident.
The 2016 F1 World Champion spoke to the UK’s Express Sport at a Formula E launch of Heineken’s Greener Bar and was asked about who he believed played the bigger role in the crash, with the stewards ruling Hamilton was predominantly to blame.
“It was a racing incident,” Rosberg said. “I mean everybody is going to the limits, it’s normal when you’re fighting for a race win at the Silverstone Grand Prix and you’re fighting for a championship and everything is so closely fought, and you know the importance of becoming out of the first lap first.”
Crashes always make a huge difference.
Rosberg then talked about the outrageous reactions by Red Bull and its fans, who wanted to obtain more from the penalty issued to Hamilton. The German believes that crashes always make a gigantic difference in race, so it’s natural to react like that.
“It makes a huge difference on the race results so, racing incidents and just everybody going to the limits,” Rosberg explained. “It leaves them in a great intense battle. I can’t wait to switch on the TV for the next instalment. Because definitely has is ramped up the intensity.”
The next destination for both Verstappen and Hamilton is Hungary, and the current year’s competition is surely matching the level of Hamilton and Rosberg rivalry.
