Virat Kohli DRS: India and Kohli nail another DRS decision to dismiss Jonny Bairstow in Nottingham Test
Virat Kohli DRS call: The Indian captain got yet another DRS call right as India dismissed the fourth English batsman on the brink of tea.
During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of England in Nottingham, India captain Virat Kohli opting for a DRS resulted in England batsman Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal on the brink of tea.
It all happened on the second delivery of the 51st over when Bairstow was beaten by India pacer Mohammed Shami’s in-swinger. Despite Bairstow getting hit in front of the stumps, umpire Richard Kettleborough ruled the decision in the batsman’s favour.
The onus once again fell on Kohli regarding deciding to opt for DRS or not. Uncertain about Bairstow edging the ball or not, Kohli was seen confirming the same from his teammates before opting for DRS.

India pacer Shardul Thakur appeared to have provided the vote of confidence to Kohli stating that Bairstow didn’t edge the ball. It was then that replays confirmed that the ball would have gone on to hit the stumps.
Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 28th over, Bairstow played a composed knock scoring 29 (71) with the help of four fours. Bairstow’s dismissal left England in a spot of bother as they were reduced to 138/4 before the tear break.
