BREAKING: Novak Djokovic to rope in Radek Stepanek as coach!
Novak Djokovic is on the road to recovery and is adamant on making it big on the circuit once he is back. Federer’s extraordinary comeback this season has given Murray and Djokovic some hope, both of whom would be vying to make strong comebacks in 2018, after missing major part of the tour in 2017.
Djokovic has already started planning is 2018 schedule and is all set to add another eminent tennis player to his coaching staff in Radek Stepanek.
Stepanek recently retired from the tour and is set to be added to Djokovic’s coaching staff as the ‘second coach’, as Andre Agassi will not be joining Djokovic for all tournaments.
Even before Andre Agassi was appointed as Djokovic’s coach, there were reports of maybe Radek Stepanek taking up the role, but at the time, Radek was still an ATP players, and dismissed all rumours of him joining Djokovic’s coaching team.
But according to sources cited by iDNES online, Stepanek has already agreed to the role of ‘secondary coach’ for Djokovic and will be joining him in Doha, although no official announcement has been made.
Novak Djokovic is set to participate in the Abu Dhabi exhibition event, followed by the Doha event, and it is then that Radek Stepanek is expected to join his team.
Stepanek would bring in a lot of experience and would probably come in as a full-time coach, travelling with Djokovic round the year. But it would interesting to see how Agassi and Stepanek work together, as you rarely have two former ATP players(very much from the same era) on the same coaching staff
