IND vs ENG Man of the Match 2021 1st Test: Who was awarded Man of the Match in England vs India Nottingham Test?
IND vs ENG Man of the Match: The English captain was declared the Man of the Match for scoring his 21st Test century on Day 4.
During the fifth day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of England in Nottingham, inclement weather conditions dominated to the extent that an intriguing day of Test cricket had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.
A Test match in England being played under cloud cover with the visiting team needing 157 runs to win on the last day with nine wickets in hand called for an apt finish. However, rain gods had other plans as the play got affected for the third time in five days to force a draw in a match which could’ve easily had a winner.
While the weather forecast had predicted rain playing spoilsport at Trent Bridge today, it wasn’t as bad as it turned out to be. There was a brief hope of play resuming after 02:30 PM (local time) as an inspection was scheduled for the same time but even the inspection had to be postponed due to rain.
IND vs ENG Man of the Match 1st Test
England captain Joe Root, who had scored a Test century after 11 innings on Day 4, was declared the “Man of the Match” at Trent Bridge. Having scored a strike-filled half-century in the first innings, Root scored a total of 173 (280) with the help of 25 fours in the match.
In what was his first Test century at home after almost three years, it goes without saying that had it not been for Root’s knock yesterday, England would’ve been in deep trouble with respect to losing the match.

“To finally get to my century was a relief given how I played throughout the day. I think India have a very good seam attack and credit to them for the way they bowled. I just wanted to put the pressure back on them with a few shots. Certainly feel full of confidence on the back of that.” Root was quoted as saying by Sky Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
