Virat Kohli and team to get a massive pay rise
A few weeks ago we learnt that MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli were going to meet the BCCI and CoA in order to discuss improvements on the current remuneration for team India.
India were dominant this calendar year, as Kohli’s men have conquered everyone that has come before them.
The likes of England, Bangladesh, Australia and New Zealand have been brushed aside with consummate ease while India took particular pleasure in dismantling Sri Lanka both home and away.

In between all this India also reached the final of the Champions trophy, where they lost to arch rivals Pakistan on the big day.
But in spite of that loss, India have surely become one of the best sides in the world. Understandably, Kohli and Dhoni feel that the players need to be rewarded accordingly.
According to reports, the current cricketers with Grade A contracts are expected to pocket Rs 12 crore per year while the cricketers with Grade B contracts will get Rs 8 crore and Grade C contracts get Rs 4 crore.
Currently the Grade A, B and C contracted cricketers earn Rs 2 crores, 1 crore and Rs 50 lakh respectively. Ravi Shastri, who was also at the meeting, stressed that Aussie captain Steve Smith earns Rs 12 crore while Joe Root also earns a similar amount per annum.
Kohli’s earnings are now expected to go through the roof, as the Indian skipper will want to earn as much as his contemporaries in the game today.
This is what a source had to say,
“The discussions went on for more than four hours and focused on the disparity in wage structures between Indian, British, and Australian players. There is no doubt the marquee Indian players are grossly underpaid compared to their British and Australian counterparts,” the source said.
