IPL Governing Council unable to come to a conclusion on ‘Player retention policy’
The upcoming sumptuous, cash-rich Indian Premier League is edging closer at one end but is leaving incomplete fractions at the other end. The key propositions such as the player retention, right to match card policy that were discussed in the meeting had no essence on the matter of confirmation.
According to a report by Times of India, the IPL Governing Council is still pondering about the concepts and has been unable to come to a firm conclusion regarding the IPL player retention policy.
In the recently-concluded meeting between the BCCI, IPL franchise owners and executives, various franchises have voiced out different opinions due to which no consensus has been achieved.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royals will be playing the IPL after a two-year ban from the game have shed complications in the process as they have no players to retain as of now.
This comes as extremely sad news for MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings fans, as Thala Dhoni might not be able to play for CSK in the upcoming seasons, something that the fans were looking forward to after not being able to witness their hero in yellow colours for two long seasons.
CSK and the Royals will have a separate draft ahead of the intriguing IPL 2018 auction where they can be able to retain the players from defunct Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant franchises only.
Most of the teams are looking forward to retaining their top-level players and the competition to attract the key assets before the start of the next decade of IPL is still doing the rounds. However, IPL Governing Council is expected to come to a conclusion in a final meeting to be held on Wednesday that would solve the problems once and for all.
