BREAKING: King Kohli replaces Shah Rukh Khan as India’s most valuable celebrity
Indian captain Virat Kohli is going places. On field he has been piling on the runs and has been mighty brilliant with his captaincy as well. Off field fame has followed too, making him the most marketable athlete in the country.
Virat Kohli yesterday cemented an irrefutable claim to greatness as he replaced Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as the most valuable celebrity brand according to a valuation advisor.
The fame and reputation that Kohli built over the years have been simply awesome. Kohli presently charges close to Rs 3.2 crore for a single Instagram post.
Not too long ago, ‘Too Yumm; snacks brand roped in Virat Kohli as it’s brand ambassador in a bid to increase it’s annual turnover.A report for 2017 was generated to evaluate India’s most valuable celebrity brands, which was captioned as ‘Rise of the Millennials’.
Phelps, a global valuation and corporate finance advisor, recently published the 3rd edition of its annual study of celebrity brand values in India.
Phelps said that Kohli topped the charts with brand value of $144 million, followed by Bollywood actors Shah Rukh worth $106 million, Deepika Padukone worth $93 million, Akshay Kumar worth $47 million and Ranveer Singh worth $42 million.
Virat Kohli is now the new face to all the consumers because of his charisma both on and off the field.
“For the first time since we began publishing our rankings, Shah Rukh Khan has slipped from the top ranking and been replaced by Virat Kohli.
Kohli is now the first choice of brands to engage and attract consumers, fueled by his extraordinary on-field performances and off-field charisma,” Varun Gupta, Duff & Phelps Managing Director and Region Leader – India, Japan and Southeast Asia, told in a statement.
“In addition to Kohli, other young celebrities such as actress Alia Bhatt, actor Varun Dhawan and badminton champion P.V. Sindhu have either risen in the rankings or entered our top 15 list, backed by note-worthy performances in their respective fields and strong endorsement signings over the last year,” Gupta added
“While Bollywood celebrities continue to dominate the top 15, sportspersons are providing tough competition as Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sindhu, collectively valued at $180 million, account for almost a quarter of the total celebrity brand value of the top 15,” Aviral Jain said in a statement.
