MS Dhoni needs one more dismissal for 400 ODI dismissals
Legendary wicket-keeper, MS Dhoni needs only one more dismissal to join a very elite list of keepers who have reached 400 ODI dismissals.
Dhoni is currently on 399, and needs just one more to join Sangakara, Gilchrist and Boucher and underline his credentials as one of the greatest keepers in he history of the 50 overs format of the game.
After quitting the test arena a few years back, Mahi has been focusing on the limited overs format, something that he has always loved. It was never a secret that Mahi did not fancy test cricket as much as he did ODI and T20s.
The Ranchi man will be hoping to reach this landmark in the today’s match against the Proteas at Cape Town.
India have already taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the six-match series, and are favourites to go 3-0 up at Newlands. South Africa are in dire need of inspiration, as they have been hit by injuries to their major batting stars.
AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock are all sidelined due to injury, in addition to the previously ruled out Dale Steyn. In their absence, the experienced duo of Hashim Amla and JP Duminy need to come to the fore and take even more responsibility for their side.
India’s trump card has been their magical spin-duo, as Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have spun a web around the South African batsmen. The Proteas have not come to grips with these wrist spinners, as even the experienced pair of Duminy and Miller have not had any answers to the spinners.
With South Africa on the ropes, India know that they have a glorious opportunity to win this series in the next couple of ODIs. On the batting front, Virat Kohli has looked in imperious form, as the Indian skipper scored a superb century and backed it up with another good knock in the first and second ODIs respectively.
India’s dominance has been a far cry from previous tours, when the team would struggle to challenge in foreign conditions. This side is different though, and Virat Kohli would like nothing more than to wrap up the series and silence all the critics who doubted him and his side.
