Ravindra Jadeja credits MS Dhoni for his batting success
One year ago, Ravindra Jadeja was on top of the world, as the left arm spinner was going through the best phase of his career up till that point.
Things have changed pretty quickly for Jadeja though, as he has quickly dropped out of the limited overs setup and also found himself second-choice after Ravi Ashwin in the test format.
Jadeja could not get a game in the recently concluded test series against South Africa, and will not feature in the ongoing ODI series either, as the batsman will be looking to strike some form ahead of the IPL, set to start in a few months from now.
The left hander came in the news recently after he scored heavily in the domestic circuit.
Speaking in an interview recently, Jadeja credited Dhoni for his batting success, and feels that he is primed to have a great IPL season.
“Mahi bhai told me that I will get batting opportunities in the IPL this year. He said that I have the ability of a proper batsman, and I am not the flash in the pan type of batsman. And I should think like that. It was really encouraging for me. So, I am concentrating more on the batting aspect of my game and trying to get used to playing the anchor role,” Jaddu further mentioned.
“I am quite happy with the way I am bowling. In fact, I am focusing more on my batting now. I do not want to be a player who is known for hitting those 20-odd runs. I want to play the anchor role, just like I did today,” he said.
Let’s see what the future holds for the dashing all-rounder!
