All you need to know about IPL Auction 2017

The 10th season of the Vivo IPL season is fast approaching with its famed auction, a regular feature every year. It will take place this Saturday at Bengaluru. As many as 76 of the total 300 players going under the hammer can be chosen by the 8 competing teams. The Sportsrush brings you ‘All you need to know about IPL Auction 2017’

Details about the auction :

Date – 4th February, 2017

Venue – ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru

Telecast and Time – Sony Six at 9 AM IST

Auction Rules :

The players will be segregated based on their primary role(batsman,bowler,all rounder) and split into pots. They will then be picked on random and the player will be bid starting from their base price. A player will be sold to the team auctioning the highest amount by raising their paddle.

IPL Auction

A player goes unsold if none of the teams show interest. However, these pool of players are brought back to the auction once all the remaining player list has finished. However, this time the base price of the player is halved to attract bids.

Auction purse for teams

All the 8 teams will try to strengthen their teams by filling the loopholes in their squads. They will be looking to target the right players to pick among the huge list to go under the hammer.

Coming to the auction purse, Kings XI Punjab have the maximum amount to spend with 23.35 crores. On the contrary, Mumbai Indians seem to have a well settled squad. Therefore, they have the least amount to pay in the auction with 11.5 crores.
