WATCH: McLaren’s hilarious and shambolic pitstop at Barcelona Testing
The McLaren team haven’t been able to catch a break at the Barcelona testing, encountering so many car issues despite having move on from the supposedly ‘unreliable’ Honda engine.
While the Test 1 was bad for all teams as the weather did not allow most of them to get their laps in, Test two has dished out clear skies all along.
McLaren though have failed to get in those laps, thanks to oil leak issues, which have completely marred testing for the Woking based team.
Alonso though has been upbeat about the chances of McLaren and about how the car is functioning, emphasising that such things happen in testing and that it is called testing for a reason.
McLaren have had to undergo multiple engine changes and have apparently still not been able to adjust to the new Renault package.
And while all the car troubles have been giving enough headaches to the team and the fans alike, the pit crew still found a way to increase the misery.
McLaren had the most hilarious and shambolic pits stop during the testing, one that is sure to leave the onlookers in splits.
Vandoorne came in for a pit stop to get a quick change of tyres, however, what should have been a routine stop turned into one of the most embarrassing moments for McLaren in testing despite all the track halts.
The rear tyres were apparently put on the wrong ends, with the right one being put onto the left rear end and vice versa.
The guy on the left rear tyre realised the mistake and ran towards the other side to get the ‘right’ tyre.
The one at the right rear end was still putting the tyre the wrong way. And thus a pit stop that should have taken just 3 seconds took almost 25 seconds to complete
