“We are just lacking the pace”– Toto Wolff yields to Red Bull
“We are just lacking the pace”– Toto Wolff accepts that his team is not able to outperform Red Bull, a sign of decline for the champions?
Mercedes faced a defeat Red Bull in the Styrian Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen taking all 25 points on Sunday, giving him 18 points and Red Bull 40 points lead in the table respectively.
After the race, Toto Wolff has accepted that maybe they are slower than Red Bull, and it is something they have felt for the first time in eight years, which has been remarked as their era.
“This is the first race, really, in eight years where we are just lacking the pace,” said Toto Wolff to SkyF1. Despite, having a deficit against Red Bull, Wolff has assured that his team won’t drop 2022 plans to make alterations in the 2021 car.
“We have stopped developing this year because we believe for the next years it is so important to get it right.”

Red Bull to seal the title?
F1 is yet to breach the half the season mark, but the Milton-Keynes-based team looks one step ahead in every race now, as this was the fourth consecutive race win by Red Bull this season.
Moreover, the next race is also set to happen at the same venue, and it is clear that Red Bull is faster than Mercedes over here, giving better control of the current situation.
So, it would be a huge setback for Mercedes, if they lose next race too, as it will give only a never closing gap to Red Bull and Verstappen in the championship race.
