Virat Kohli is unhappy with RCB’s bowling display against Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson lit up the Chinnaswamy today, as the 23-year old Kerala star stroked his way to a sublime 92, to take his side to a commanding 217.
After promising for a few years, Samson has reached the stage when he has to perform consistently if he wants to make a break through into the national team setup. The talent was obvious to everyone who saw him, as Samson looked mature beyond his years in what was one of the best knocks of this season.
In reply, RCB’s feared first four did not make much, as no one apart from Kohli crossed the 50 run mark. The RCB skipper looked in sumptuous touch, and as long was as he was in, RCB felt that they were in for a real chance.
But his dismissal was quickly followed by ABD’s, which effectively put an end to RCB’s hopes. Kohli was visibly upset after the match, as he was not impressed by RCB’s bowling effort today.
“We knew exactly where it went wrong. Having 70 in 10 overs, we were going good with the ball. But giving 140-odd in the last 10 is never a good sign. The wicket was slower than what we played like. We would have loved to have 20 runs lesser to chase. But then, I have never seen a game where four batsmen have got out to half-trackers.
“There is a lot of belief in the side, even when we needed 85 off the last 5 overs, we had belief. That mindset is important. We had 100 in 10 overs, we were confident and if we hadn’t lost two wickets in six balls, things could have been different.
“No ifs or buts though. First game we were on track, we had our chances today as well. Too early (in the season) to make drastic changes though.”
