“I’m thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs,” says Unai Emery
The Spaniard is excited as he takes his first job in England.
Unai Emery has promised Arsenal fans to give some great moments, after the club confirmed his appointment today. The Spaniard joins Arsenal from Paris Saint Germain, where he finished as Ligue 1 champion.
In his first press briefing since the announcement, the 46-year old said, “Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run. I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history.”
It is important to note that Unai Emery’s announcement message termed him as “head-coach”. Unai Emery will operate on a 50m transfer budget for the upcoming summer window.

Before the Spaniard, Arsenal was linked with Mikel Arteta, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira. Mikel Arteta almost won the managerial race before Unai Emery arrived.
“I have met Stan and Josh Kroenke and it’s clear they have great ambitions for the club and are committed to bringing future success,” Unai Emery said.
“I’m excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories,” the Spaniard added.
Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke described Unai Emery as a “proven winner.”
The Spaniard has won three consecutive Europa League titles with Sevilla, and is the only manager in the world to do so.
Besides lifting 10 major honours in his time as manager, he developed some key players who play for big clubs today. These names include David Villa, Juan Mata, Jordi Alba and Adrian Rabiot, among others.
“We’re delighted to welcome Unai to Arsenal,” Kroenke said. “He’s a proven winner. We’re confident that he is the right person for the job and that he will work to deliver the triumphs our fans, staff and everyone who cares about Arsenal want,” he added.
