Arsenal target Caglar Soyuncu gives update on his future
Arsenal is monitoring the Turkish defender for quite some time, and Caglar Soyuncu has recently spoken on his transfer rumours.
SC Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu has been linked with a move to Arsenal. The Telegraph reported that Arsenal is pursuing Soyuncu, and the defender may become Unai Emery’s first signing at the club.
The British newspaper also reported that Freiburg wants £35 million for the deal to go through.
Arsenal finished 6th in the Premier League this season, and were sloppy in defence at times. There are reports of Arsenal already making a move for Sokratis Papasthathopolous.
The Turkish defender has recently opened up about his transfer speculations. In an interview, he talked about the possibility for a move to Premier League.
“We are thinking about taking that next step up,” said the defender. “However, I told my agent and my club that I want to talk about my future after the international break,” Soyuncu added.
Caglar Soyuncu is in the world cup squad for Turkey. This would be a great opportunity for Arsenal fans to know more about his playing style. Turkey will play Iran, Tunisia and Russia in the World Cup finals.
Who is Caglar Soyuncu?
The 22-year old defender has developed into Bundesliga’s hottest property, after he started his career in the second-tier of Turkish league.
Soyuncu is a fearless defender, possesses excellent positioning sense, and is a great tackler. He is also good in the air, which provides an extra edge. At 21, he established himself in the first team at SC Freiburg.
He earned his first international cap at the age of 20, and is now a first-team regular in the Turkish side as well.
Arsenal conceded 51 goals in this year’s Premier League season. An ageing Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi don’t seem to inspire confidence among the Arsenal faithful. The arrival of Caglar Soyuncu will definitely be a huge boost to the defensive arsenal at the club.
